Scarceness of resources? Hunger? Pollution? Global warming? Climate change?
It seems clear, that the one underlying cause of all this is an ever expanding world population, one which increases at a near exponential rate which, for most of us means an ever faster rate. In spite some moderation of this growth rate, the overall increase is quite alarming, as also illustrated by the following graph published by the United Nations:

In order to get a 'feel' for this ongoing population growth, please refer to the following 'live' population clock by clicking on the image (in order to come back to this site, please use the back arrow on your browser):

Quoting from an article by Dr. Nitish Priyadarshi (Dec 23, 2009): "The earth´s population has nearly doubled since World War II. More babies than ever than ever have been born, but this is only part of the reason for the increase. More and better food and medical care have kept alive many people who would otherwise have died. This enormous increase in the number of people is called ´population explosion.´ Many experts believe it is the greatest danger facing mankind. A doubled population means a greater drain on the world´s limited resources..."

"If we don't halt population growth with justice and compassion, it will be done for us by nature, brutally and without pity - and will leave a ravaged world". Nobel Laureate Dr. Henry W. Kendall

It is clear, that an acceptable form of population control is needed, one that can be applied in the so called third world countries as well as elsewhere - after all, third world countries already account for more than 90% of world population growth. (Ref.: US Library of Congress, Research Division) There is also the view that we don't have to do a thing, as population increase seems to level off . These and other opinions will be discussed in the following pages which also to include a chat room for canvassing people's opinion over this important subject area. While much of that is to come, please refer to the next page for presenting data about the environmental effects of population increase.
