One of the more overlooked secondary professions in the World of Warcraft is fishing. Don't ask me why, but people tend to shy away from it. Is it because standing by water in hopes you'll catch something doesn't sound very exciting? Maybe. But don't let that dissuade you from reeling them in! has some serious benefits. And, it can be fun. In this WoW Guide exclusive, let us tell you all about the Stranglethorn Extravaganza and how you can get involved in the action.

You have to venture on over to Stranglethorn Vale in the Eastern Kingdom in order to compete in this race. It happens each and every Sunday between 14:00 and 16:00, but be careful! These times are based on server times, not local times. Keep your eye on the in-game clock, if you will.

What Do I Need to Compete

If you wish to compete in the Stranglethorn Extravaganza, you will need a pole, bait, a neutral reputation with Booty Bay and a level of 130. However, a level of 225 is probably more around where you'll want to be when competing.

How Do I Know Where to Fish?

The coastal areas around Stranglethorn Vale are all prime spots during the race. The only areas that won't work are Booty Bay and Jaguero Isle. The pools you're going to want to fish are called "Schools of Tastyfish."

Do I Start Fishing?

Wait for Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay to announce the beginning of the tournament, and then get to fishing! You'll want to move between different pools to make sure you reel in as many Speckled Tastyfish as you can.

How Do I Win?

In order to win the competition, you'll need to have caught 40 Speckled Tastyfish within the allotted time limit and be the first competitor to deliver your catches to Riggle Bassbait in the center of Booty Bay.

What Do I Win?

If you should be so fortunate to win this awesome competition, you'll receive a great pole-the best one available, in fact-the status of "Master Angler" and other nifty gizmos.
